Ishasha River Camp – a rustic, yet tranquil lodge that offers a one-of-a kind experience in the heart of Ishasha, Uganda. Located just minutes outside of Queen Elizabeth National Park, we offer uniquely built cabins, delicious home-cooked meals, a swimming pool and the perfect surroundings for spotting over 1,000 species of birds, monkeys and baboons. Our grounds are set over 60 acres of land and offer accommodation for every type of traveler, from the budget camper to the safari-chic glamper. Pitch a tent in our simple camp area, or leave the comforts of home for a stay in one of our stripped-back cabins or our magical family-sized tree house that overlook the Ntungwe River. Our raised restaurant and bar offers a casual spot to relax with a cold drink, while enjoying panoramic views of the Kigezi Wildlife Reserve. Only minutes away is a hidden treasure; a peaceful beach area where you can sunbathe, enjoy a picnic, or treat yourself to an evening sun downer.
The peace and quiet of the lodge is only interrupted by the sights and sounds of the surrounding nature. The melody of bird songs, monkey calls and elephant trumpeting create an orchestra of sounds to wake up to and the atmosphere throughout the day make it a perfect place to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature.
With close proximity to the national park, a casual drive to @ The River is quickly transformed into a game drive, giving you the opportunity to see elephant, lion, hyena, antelope, buffalo and birds. Ishasha’s famous tree-climbing lions keep watch from the branches, with lush vegetation and breathtaking views of the Rwenzori and the Virunga Mountain ranges in the distance.
@ The River is doing our part to help the planet by becoming a fully sustainable eco-property. Please be aware that water tanks and fridges are powered by hot coals and solar panels, and all meals are made fresh daily using seasonal ingredients grown on our property or sourced from a local market.
